Sam Allcock is the publisher of Tipking. He builds media and reputation businesses, has built and sold two UK agencies, and runs a portfolio of independent news and reference titles through Domain Farm Ltd.
He is not a tradesman, an electrician or a medical professional, and Tipking does not pretend otherwise. Where a tip touches something that can hurt you or cost you money, it says where the figures came from and when to call somebody qualified.

How Tipking is written
Every tip leads with the short answer, then the method, then what will ruin it and why it works. That ordering is deliberate: the expensive mistake is usually the thing nobody mentions, and knowing the reason is what lets you solve the problem we have not covered.
Every energy figure is worked from the Ofgem price cap, with the rate and the date it was read printed on the page. Appliance power ratings are typical for the class, never lifted from a named model we have not checked, and every calculator asks you for your own number rather than pretending the average is yours.
We do not review products we have not tested. Where we compare, it is on published ingredients, pack size and cost per use, with the date we checked.
Where a tip touches health, gas, electricity or anything that can hurt somebody, it says so plainly and it says when to stop and call a professional. Those notes are in the disclaimer and they are not decoration.
