Tipking has been publishing household tips since 2000. It went quiet for a while. This is it running again.
What it is for
A house throws up the same few hundred problems at everybody: something spilled on something, something is growing on a wall, something costs more to run than it should. Most of the advice online answers the question and stops. Tipking tries to answer it and tell you why, because the reasoning is what lets you solve the next one on your own.
Three rules we hold to
- We lead with what ruins it. The expensive mistake is usually the thing nobody
mentions: bleach on wool, heat on a protein stain, vinegar on a stone worktop.
- We do not review products we have not tested. Where we compare cleaning products it
is on published ingredients, pack size and cost per use, with the date we checked. If we ever do test something properly, we will say exactly how.
- Every figure says where it came from. Running costs are calculated from the current
price cap and the manufacturer's own wattage, and both are named on the page.
